Move from console to PC
Move from console to PC
Hi, I am looking to move from console to PC. Just looking for some reassurance that the specs of the PC I am looking at is good:
Intel i7 6700
16GB DDR4 RAM
Zotac Geforce GTX 1060 6GB
ASUS H110M-R Motherboard
Kingston 480GB SSD
Windows 10 Pro
No mention of a sound card, but would FS19 make use of a fancy sound card?
I am planning to connect it to my TV and use a Logitech F710 Wireless Gamepad. I don't really want to use a keyboard and definitely don't want a steering wheel setup. A friend of mine may also be selling a gaming laptop of similar spec, but waiting on details of that. The whole setup will only be used for FS19.

In my experience that setup will be more than adequate. I run a very similar PC except I only have half the RAM and half the video RAM installed that you are proposing, and mine runs smoothly at the highest video settings I can dial the game up to, even on 4x maps with a hundred mods. The only stumbling block I foresee could be if you’re trying to drive a huge TV at the highest resolution you can output. Then you may need to scale down your output.tom1979 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 08, 2021 2:58 pm Hi, I am looking to move from console to PC. Sounds like I should be good then, thank you. We don't have a massive TV!

Re: Move from console to PC
Just out of curiosity, what is a ballpark figure if what a system like this costs? I am curious myself to go to the PC world. If you don't mind me asking.tom1979 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 08, 2021 2:58 pm Hi, I am looking to move from console to PC. Just looking for some reassurance that the specs of the PC I am looking at is good:

You do not need a fancy sound card, Your set up looks good if that's all your using it for.

Re: Move from console to PC
I personally dont recommend going to pc... right now! the price of the video cards is jacking everything up real bad.. the same price I paid for my dell will currently get u a potato
Re: Move from console to PC
I'm looking at about £500 for that setup, which I don't think is bad at all !PrincessJessi84 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 08, 2021 4:59 pm I personally dont recommend going to pc... right now! the price of the video cards is jacking everything up real bad.. the same price I paid for my dell will currently get u a potato

Re: Move from console to PC
thats honestly not terrible... its just these silly cards... I have been reading that it has to do with bitcoin mining.. I guess they r jacking up the demand real bad... idk much about bitcoin mining so I have no idea lol... I just know that to get my pc with its original specs is way more than what I paid for either of them, the 1700 or the 2700 model
Re: Move from console to PC
That's a good idea, when it's not running FS19 i could be mining for Bitcoins!!!! A mate ran a racing simulator business and he had all the sims mining at night!PrincessJessi84 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 08, 2021 5:21 pm thats honestly not terrible... its just these silly cards... Re: Move from console to PC
yea.. I guess its become such a big deal that nvidea has tooled a few of their lines to specifically not work well with mining so people will stop buying all of them up and jacking up the market

Re: Move from console to PC
It's a combination of factors. Mining, COVID-19 creating bottlenecks in distribution and the demand at chip foundries clogging up the ability to make CPUs and GPU chips - the latter two are also reasons why they can't satisfy demands for new consoles.
The setup you mentioned will run the game well at 1080p and 1440p, but I suspect you'd struggle to get decent performance at 4K (if your TV is a 4K one).
You're not going to get anything mining on a couple of PCs now. You need mining farms with rooms full of computers to have a decent chance of making good money.

I would echo what gav is saying here. I did not mention that I run my setup at 1080p and occasionally 1440. I think that card/PC combination would have more than a handful running at 4k. However the game looks beautiful (to me) even at 1080 as long as you're not on a monstrous screen.

For sound cards motherboards and dGPU’s usually have them.
FS15 & FS19 Platinum Edition PC (and War Thunder, Gaijin is way worse than GIANTS ever has been accused of being)

It was a couple of years ago, he managed to get 0.25 bitcoins in 6 months!this_is_gav wrote: ↑Mon Mar 08, 2021 5:38 pm

I don't think our TV is 4K, is a Sony Bravia KDL32W706BSU which I think is only 1080p but at 32" I think it will ok on the lesser resolutions. Although the company selling it said "it will run Forza Horizon 4 very smoothly at 4K 30Hz with "Ultra Dynamic" quality", whatever that means!
I am quite looking forward to losing the constraints of console!
For some reason I could not reply last night as apparently my IP has been blocked! Strange.
