Anyway to edit DLC files?
Anyway to edit DLC files?
I bought the Claas Saddle Trac Pack DLC and I don't like it because the tractor doesn't have as much horsepower as I expected. it just seems unrealistic. also, the slurry tanker doesn't even have a larger capacity than the stock Samson tanker in the game which is also unrealistic. Is there a way I can mod the DLC myself so I can increase the horsepower and the capacity?
Re: Anyway to edit DLC files?
It is possible in theorie yes. Although you have to find you own way because not many people with the knowledge will help you with that for obvious reasons. That said there are modified versions on different sites which offer the things you want.
And personally i don't think there's anything unrealistic about that pack DLC anyway.

Re: Anyway to edit DLC files?
Isn't the stock Samson a 35 cubic meter tank and the dlc Kaweco a 30 cubic meter tank? What's unrealistic about that?
Re: Anyway to edit DLC files?
Volume is correct, cheek kaweco site. Can't say anything about the horsepower, but what bothers me is that they forgot to add hydralic hose panel at the back of the tanker, so hoses cant attach.
With scrpits ive seen modders edit some values in dlc's before. But have no clue how.

Both Samson and Kaweco (and all the other brands) make tankers in different sizes. Samson goes from 16m3 to 35m3 - don't know about the others. And Claas just hasn't put more than 462 hp in the Saddle Trac, which also is more than enough.

Is 100% illegal to edit paid DLC.
Wait for the new game (FS24 or FS25) and you will receive it as a mod from Giants

Hello
No need to do something illegal to edit a DLC if you need only to change some values in a xml file. It has been done in the past (think about moreRealistic mod that was also supporting DLC vehicles on FS17 or passenger mod that enabled to add passengers on Claas DLC vehicles on FS19)
You can create a lua script mod that would change the values you want when loading the DLC vehicle.

Don't know why people are jumping on him with legalities. It doesn't sound like he's planning to share the DLC with anyone else.

In §3 Too :
In addition, editing, decompiling, disassembling, and reverse engineering are prohibited. Inciting third parties to or aiding and abetting such acts is also prohibited.
Seems obvious

Re: Anyway to edit DLC files?
According to that, even "editing" the xml of their game would be in violation.Ziuta Modding wrote: ↑Sun May 22, 2022 8:33 amAkot69 wrote: ↑Sun May 22, 2022 6:17 amreally? i did not know that was illegal. So anyone who's ever changed a value in any FS game file, is breaking the law.
Re: Anyway to edit DLC files?
Does it really seem obvious?
"editing" the xml is as much a violation as "decompiling" a file.
There are a lot of guilty people out there I guess.
