Back for a second try....
So I fired up the game since I gave it up shortly after release. Started a game on Elmcreek, bought a barn, cows, bales, and equipment to feed the cows. On the first day I bought 20 cows and fed them as well as gave them straw. I purchased for 1500~ each. After feeding I purchased a house and went to "sleep"
The next morning I checked on my cows and just like when I quit playing the first time, the cows are now worth $2400+ each. So in one day(a month) the cows can produce a 65% profit?

Re: Back for a second try....
I wonder if it's like that in real life in Illinois.

Re: Back for a second try....
This is most amusing. Would that it could be so. If it were, everyone would want to be a farmer.
Re: Back for a second try....
Its a game, no one wants to wait 1 or 2 years to make profit
Re: Back for a second try....
@rewrew421 ... how many days per month ? Remember that if you play with 1 day/month when you go to sleep in the game 1 month has passed ... I know that even this cows' price is still unrealistic but ... ehi I am also surprised that in "hard" mode a farmer starts with € 500,000 €/$, and they pay you really a lot of money for every contract ... I'm not a farmer and never will be but I'm sure real life numbers are different.
Personally I would like to have mods ,like in ETS2, that make the game more realistic, since after all it's called Simulator.

Should we have a mod for desperation and hunger, if crops fail? I think farmers are unsung heroes.
Re: Back for a second try....
So I did test it on 28 Day seasons and it is the same.
the game uses 3 points and scales the value of the cows based on those points. my numbers may be wrong im going off memory but the idea is the same
Buying
0 month old is 200$
12 month old is 1500
18 month old is 2000
Selling
0 mo is 300
12 mo is 2000
18 mo is 2500.
IMO they should be the same? or maybe even reversed for added difficulty.

Well for one you aren't going to be buying views that are ready for market or close to it. Second, why would you sell something at the same price you bought it, you don't make a profit then. Third, when you finish out cattle you need to subtract your expensives to see what profit you made. Also cows market with will bring in more money than it cost to buy them. For example, if you paid 1.59 per lb at 700 weight that cost you 1113 per head. You then sell at 1.49 per lb at 1300 that brings in 1937 per head. Therefore your overall value increased. If you grow your own feed it cuts down on your cost creating a bigger profit margin.

I cant find the cows weight anywhere?
And trust me even buying bales at the store you make a huge profit.
Essentially start a from scratch game, buy a spot of land, a front loader, tractor and TMR mixer, and then the biggest cow barn you can afford and still have money for cows.
Buy bales from the store and use the loader to make TMR, then feed the cows. Sleep 24 hours(actually less) and then sell the cows immediately buy more cows and repeat.
Why would I buy a young calf and feed it for 20 months? Before input cost its $110 a month profit vs $1000
a month per cow to buy and sell every day. Its broken.

Re: Back for a second try....
Right from the XML, you buy at age 24 for 2000 and you can sell at age 24 for 3000.
This has to be an error? you buy a cow and INSTANTLY its worth more then you bought it for?

Re: Back for a second try....
The whole animal system needs to be reworked. I would call this a game exploit. If you want to simulate buying cattle, you wouldn't sell it right away. That sell price is for when you buy when they are littler. It is the same as flopping fields you can buy harvest and sell at the same price.

Not just Illinois. That's the national board of trade price. Break even price would be around 1.50 right now. That's why I have an open lot right now. I'm not buying at the moment.
