What is Mesh Tessellation Volume?

Post by ekeenan » Sun Dec 30, 2018 3:44 am

I was unable to find a clear answer elsewhere so hopefully someone here can explain what it is.

Hiya,

This is from a steam post from fs17

I'm assuming it's the same in fs19

"<volumeMeshTessellationCoeff>
Should handle the Tessellation quality, like the geometry changes when plowing and cultivating for example. Having a hard time to see any difference though. Notice that lower numbers here mean higher quality. So 0.5 is high quality and 1.0 is medium quality for example

*NOTE* Editing this value below 0.5 has an impact on game loading times. At 0.25 it was 1 minute for me and at 0.1 I waited for 5 minutes then gave up.

I can really not see any difference in-game to be honest, if anyone finds any better examples on what difference it makes please make a comment."

I've never had any slowdown on my loading times messing with the setting, but i tend to upgrade gpu/cpu/motherboard when needed for eye-candy games/sims

Here's my latest xml, i best add i run g-sync which makes a difference

Also, i've just read this ... viewtopic.php?f=964&t=137957
So i'll be messing some more lol

Hope that helps

Have Fun

Fascinating that not one programmer at GIANTS can spend 30 minutes writing simple explanations on the different graphic settings alternativs and post it on their web site...

I do believe it affects windrows, tipped grain etc.
Allows it to have more detail, be smoother etc.

I went from a default of 150 to 140 and things are smoother? Didn’t notice any performance hit.
