Can anyone advice regarding using a ultrawide monitor with FS22.

Is it a go or no go?

What do I need to think about before buying one?

Any help appreciated ... *thumbsup*

First think of the reason why you would want to run at Ultra-Wide and what you expect to use it for other than FS (if any)
For example I have a Dell U4919DW because I also use it for Home office. It has a build in USB hub and USB-C which allows me to hook up the work laptop, use my desktop mouse and keyboard while switching between laptop and desktop. But as the Dell is not a gaming oriented monitor its only 60Hz and I would not recommend it to more hardcore gamers. I dont do hardcore gaming and frankly I dont have the feeling I miss 100Hz or more.
Second you have to look at your GPU. If its something like a GTX1070 dont expect to run most games on 5120x1440, high settings.

My opinion when running FS at 5120x1440 I feel it looks odd on the edges (feels stretched and not native Ultrawide). Instead I run it as a regular 16:9 at 2560x1440 window mode allowing me to run other windows next to it like browser sessions or youtube. Or the work laptop, but then in the end you are using it as 2x 27"
Other games that run Ultrawide better than FS do look amazing and you feel more immersed. The Dell has a slight curve which is enough to help with how wide it is but doesnt take a lot more desk space than 2x 27"

Wow ... this was the type of answers I was looking for ... you guys are amazing!

As for GPU I might update it ... it´s a matter of cost but sooner or later everything gets outdated and needs to be replaced ...

If the wide screen only makes everything look stretched it has no function ... but this also happens with a regular monitor depending on what setting one uses for "field of view".
Does this setting correlate with the resolution / can it be setup in a way that allows you to see a more realistic view without the stretch on a wider screen?

Sorry for the late reply was a bit busy and forgot about this post.
Maybe screenshots say more than words....I'll use links as that probably looks better than embedded in the post

So I changed the settings from what I usually run with to the full size of the screen/resolution

You can see that the menu with the wallpaper is not set up for ultrawide

Full size in and out of cab

Not sure if you get more on the view if you dont change FOV, but yes like you said then you get stretching on the edges.

Wow, thank you for this!
I really appreciate it!

Viewing angle 60 is standard for the game ... right?

I would prefer to play the game with viewing angle set at 50 (as this seems to be when round objects is actually round and things look the most realistic) ...

With my standard screen this however makes the field of view to narrow to make the game enjoyable (to much panning around with the camera joystick).

Would you mind doing a cabview screenshoot with the setting at 50?
