Horse Stuck in River

I may have accidentally got my horse in the river, turns out he likes the water so much he won't leave. How do i get him to stop swimming and get out of the water?

I have not played with horses in 22 - but in 19, if I remember correctly, you should just tab to another "vehicle" and the horse would park it self back in the stable.

That didn't work. Close the save game and reopen it and the horse resets to the store.
