I have been watching and loving Raznacs videos where 8 people start on the map.

you roll dice ( google dice) and the numbers give you the starting squares and then you roll to see what amount you start with (grant)
from there you build in the style you want and once a week we roll for events, like win money or fines and taxes.

your in charge of your road network, and then there is a farm under the name bank that is incharge of finances - which then also pays for building any towns/ villages and selling stations....

give the videos a watch and then get back to me if anyone is interested in copying thia great idea.
