FS19 - Very low CPU utilization

Post by Goooober »

I have an AMD Vega 64 graphics card and a 5820k CPU and i'm getting very low CPU utilization in FS19. I have the settings on Ultra and i'm running it on a 1440p monitor (60hz) and for the most part i've getting 60fps but i do notice it drop as low 50 at times. My GPU is constantly running at 100% load but my CPU rarely gets above 20%.

Is this normal and should i really be getting a constant 60fps without any slow downs given my hardware? I only got this graphics card a few days ago and was expecting a rock solid 60fps.

Thanks

Just a quick update to say then when combining wheat on the Euro map my FPS in 3rd person is about 50-55 but when i go in cab it drops 30-40!! With a Vega64 and a 5820k i find that quite shocking even if it is at 1440p. I've run various benchmarks and tried other games and they all perform as expected so i'm confident that the low FPS is not caused by hardware problems and must be an issue with the game itself.

If your gpu is maxed at 100% it is the gpu that is the bottleneck and the cpu won't push any more. If you upgrade the gpu then the cpu can push more frames to the gpu for processing and you will see higher utilization.

Edit: just saw that you have a vega 64. Something does seem off. At 1440p that card should be no where near maxed at 60 fps. Heck, I have my resolution set to 4K and I'm only running a GTX1060 and I'm getting a rock solid 60 fps and the highest I've seen was 72% utilization on my gpu.

I wonder if it's a graphics driver issue? Just a guess.

I've tried the most up-to-date drivers and the previous ones with no difference noticed. It would be nice if GIANTS could comment on whether or not there is an issue with FS19 and AMD.

Turning off AA helps a lot, GPU usage is way down and FPS is up. However its not a solid 60fps, it's down constantly fluctuating between 48-58.

That your FPS drops when going in cab is caused by the mirrors. They are basically tiny screens that need rendering of what's behind you.
That needs a bit more GPU power hence the frame drop.

Ok fair enough, but 30-40 fps with a Vega 64? I'm sorry but that just cant be right.

I agree, the Vega is significantly more powerful that my gtx1060 and I'm getting 60 fps with no dips in 4K whether I'm in the cab or not. Graphics set as high as they can go with AA at 4x.

I have the exact same issue on the European map. In the cab harvesting I run at 30 fps but outside it runs about 60 all the time. I have a 1050ti and haven't experience trouble like this in FS17, realized 19 would be more demanding but still feel like I should be having less FPS drops than I currently am.

I've discovered its mostly driving near or through a fully grown field that my FPS drops like a bomb, its mostly solid 60fps when driving around the map.

Still unacceptable though IMO.

I have RTX 2080 i7 8086k, at 1440p, default very high settings , when there are a lot of equipment my fps drops at 30-40 but all the time rock solid 60 fps, with uncap 70-120, this is just on multiplayer, on single palyer 200-260 fps. And in the cab , yes 10 fps drop all the time, and when you changing into chainsaw fps drops even more...

Btw i think this game only use single core, not multi cores....

Make sure VSYNC is off, I've had issues with it on before

Same problem over here.
RXVega64 with i7 4790k and 16GB Ram.
Very low CPU/GPU utilization (max. 60% on both)
Can't get stable fps and max fps is 48...mostly under 29fps average.
Tried different settings with vsync on and off, high and low whatsoever ...

It won't run. -.-

I have a 1080ti and 6700k and I get drops into the 50s sometimes in cab despite low usage on both. I find this happens no matter what resolution I run
