[SOLVED] Great Plains YP-2425A Can't Plant Corn

Post by MechPilot85 »

- PC/Mac/PS4/XB1: PC (Steam)
- Vehicle/Tool/Model/Object: Great Plains YP-2425A
- Issue: Great Plains YP-2425A Can't Plant Corn
- Single- or Multiplayer: Both
- Steps to reproduce: Buy the Great Plains YP-2425A select seed type, corn not listed.
- Does it happen on a standard map without mods yes

Comments: The Great Plains YP-2425A is a row crop planter intended to plant corn in real life. In FS 17 it was capable of planting corn, however, it is not capable of planting corn in FS 19. I'm unsure if this was intentional or not, but wanted to report it as I'd not seen anyone else post this.

Edit don_apple: thread cleaned up to remove all the posts that only tried to bump it up.

Bumping this so they'll see it. The only reason I would use this PLANTER is for row crops (corn, beets, sunflowers, soybeans). This should be fixed.
FS22 is the best one yet. Fight me!

rIGHT FROM THEIR WEBSITE

https://www.greatplainsag.com/en/produc ... a-planters

The Great Plains YP-2425A Planter is equipped with two 82-bushel poly hoppers. With its 164 bu. capacity, it can easily plant up to 160 acres of soybeans or 250 acres of corn in one fill. This increases efficiency by approximately 52% in soybeans and 12.8% in corn when compared to a planter with individual hoppers. Like all Yield-Pro® Planters, the YP-2425A uses air to gently move seed from the bulk hopper to the individual Air-Pro® meters mounted on field-proven 25 Series openers.

Someone at GIANTS probably mistakenly set it up as a seeder as opposed to a planter and added the default seeder crops. This could probably be fixed by a simple xml mod.

Not an option for those of us on console.

This is a row crop planter and should plant corn, soy beans, cotton, sunflower, and sugar beats at the minimum. I would be completely happy if it didnt plant any of the cereal crops... But it MUST plant row crops.

Also trying to back this thing up is like backing up a brick!... The "crazy wheels" at the very back of the planter lock straight when you back it up... IRL they are free to turn round and round as they have offset axles that "follow" the direction of travel. The little air (or possibly oil) shock attached to the top of each crazy wheel is just a stabilizer, it in no way locks the wheels straight.

This planter should be able to turn on a dime!!! Literally turn 180 degrees and be aligned for nearly 50% overlap... Of course only certain tractors are capable of turning to this extreme without impacting the planter tongue... But you get the idea... The planter shouldnt "push" the tractor, the tractor should DRAG the planter.

This irritates me most out of all the bugs. Gp planter was the only reason I bought the bb dlc for fs17 as there is never a large planter in the base game. Was very exited to see it included in fs19 and so very very pi**** when I see it can't plant corn!!!! The quality of fs seems to decline with each release which make me skeptical about purchasing any future fs products.

I saw one of these threads in the bug reports archive without any markings on it... Does that mean they acknowledged it or are going to fix it?

Hi guys,

this is by design. This machine is a seeder and in FS19 we have a distinction between "seeders" and "planters" - only "planters" sow corn/maize. So it's by design and won't be fixed.
