Extend crane arm
I configured the controls so that the crane arm extended with a certain command, now, even though it was checked, the same command given to lift it extends it, no matter what it does, simply, no matter what key you assign to the activity command is permanently linked to the lifting function of the crane arm.
Re: Extend crane arm
There's a new option in FS19 called easy arm control which acts like a control mixer. Turn it off.

Re: Extend crane arm
As said, the Easy Arm setting changes it from individual controls for each function to a intelligent computer controlled mode where you effectively point where you want the implement to go.
Makes it easier for mouse / keyboard users to keep up with us overkill geeks with dual joystick set ups. Also, it is somewhat realistic as it is a real system starting to be introduced by some manufacturers.

Re: Extend crane arm
Wow ... real crane operators actually want this?

Re: Extend crane arm
It's not quite the same IRL. It's designed to get the arm operating at optimal efficiency. The ingame option sort of works but without VR/3D viewing it's like trying to do it with one eye shut.

Re: Extend crane arm
Are you sure it's not the same? Are you thinking of Cat's Grade Control?

In game operation has ALWAYS been deprived of depth information, but it's still workable.

Re: Extend crane arm
In real life you have the use of two joysticks on most cranes. Existing controls are ok but if they were remapped to use both joysticks you could actually control it properly and movements more fluid.
Re: Extend crane arm
It's almost the same, but there is no soft control at the end of the range of movement and the acceleration is nowhere near as good.
Once you get used to how it works it is good. The biggest problem IRL is working under or near obstacles because the operator doesn't decide where the arm goes to get the job done.
