Does anyone from giants do logging in this game?

Post by redglasses »

I’ve been doing a quite a bit of logging recently thanks to those amazing john Deere logging machines. And I’ve just know noticed that the log physics are terrible and unreliable, sometimes logs straight up just fall out of the grapple without any warning. So how long until the log physics are fixed?

Red, that's been a question since they introduced logging in FS15. It's why I loathe it. Looking forward to BSM's tree destroying machine.

I will say that it was tolerable in FS17 with BSMs trackhoe. I've not tried the JD machines that just came out yet.

Yep its a pain in the booty. Logs just fly around like little plastic straws. Not much you can do here.

I'm thinking it's as good as it get for logging.

I say it's a little better than FS17 for grapples holding on to logs. FS17 did good with one full size log, FS19 does good with two full size logs. All the trucks mods i have made, I use the Man truck grapple, which works pretty good. I can get a load on a truck really fast with that loader.

The new JD machines need some tweaking, the loader is having a hard time with 2 full size logs, and I know FS19 can do it.

Maybe we will get to pick up 3 logs in the next version.

Once you've picked up a log in Spintires (or Mudrunner for the Kids lol) you'll realize how awful FS log physics are.

From all unrealistic things FS has, Logging is propably the worst...

It's bad, because with Seasons, it's a good thing to do to pass the time and make money! Also, with the new "place your farm" option, we have a reason to clean some trees...but it's totally undoable.

To answer your question, no...I don't think they even play the game.

It's not that bad and I only have access to console mods.

I find logging very easy in FS19 , We PC users get to use the winch, which makes it easy getting trees out of the woods, but I still find it easy using just the in game machines, Scorpion, forwarder, and the loader truck. The FS19 trees are more stable then the fs17 trees.

I have flipped two different machines on their first 1-2 logs just trying out logging. I imagine it's user error as I don't know how to turn the cutter head once I've cut the log, to strip it and cut it to length. I was at the time quick to blame the game physics, until I thought about it, and realized it was my fault.

I know that Giants probably won't make a gravity wagon, but I love to read the responses.

It is just the game physics in general. Just like pallets getting stuck to the forks, bales vibrating and then colliding into each other causing a nicly stacked pile to explode, and how stuff gets stuck into the ground at times...

FS is still the best farm game out there, and they don't have the worst phsyics, but they are still terrible...
