How much of the crop do you normally expect to dry on an average year?

Normally it dries down in three field. Like last year we only dried like 20,000 bushels send everything else was dry enough in three field. This year, if it was under 20 it was good enough to go straight into the bin. We have 1 bin with stirrators that dried down to 13 percent.

We have about 7 acres of corn left and then we will be done. This year we are only drying a couple hundred bushels of beans because we just have the dryers that are attached to the bins.

Glad you got done. I'm going to go out chiseling at 2 a.m. and go until it gets soft out there again. My brother is on this shift now.

Hey Illinois, about when do you get long-term winter frost in the ground, and how deep does it go?

Couldn't chisel here right now; frost in stubble fields is probably a foot deep already and will likely get to 3' by January

Depends on the year. This year we get frost at night, but it melts off by noon, so the rest of the day it is too muddy. Next week will only have a high of 21, so shouldn't be as muddy during the day. The ground is still soft.

My grandpa finished our corn yesterday and he said there was water in the combine tracks.

There have been guys going past my house with anhydrous tanks all day haha. Still too early to plant, and still kinda wet for tillage. Hopefully we do not get much rain in the coming days and we can get in the field next week.

Our fields are dry right now. I hope we don't get too much rain too.

If it was the second week of may we would be planting right now with these conditions, but it is just early and a little cold.

Yeah, I mean we won't start planting until next week or so either. I think you have to wait 7 to 10 after putting anhydrous on, but it is getting close.
