If you could have a new mod map...

Post by Dairydeere »

So, I know that there are a lot of great maps out there, and I'm not criticizing modders or anything, but if you could have a new location made into a map, where would it be? For me, I would go for a dairy facility in Minnesota. Feel free to add your suggestion! :biggrin2:

I think it would be awesome to see a Missouri River valley map for console. I grew up along the river banks of the Big Muddy (Missouri River) and love how it winds along with all the fertile farmland in the bottoms. Little town called Lexington is where I grew up, sits on the bluffs overlooking the river. I'll have to snap a pic and share it on here sometime!

Here’s a picture on Google Maps with the two farms circled. I would have real life pics, but I live in Washington State

I think it's fair most of us would say our own farm. I'd love to have mine. Nice square fields access to roads. But really a good cornbelt Midwest USA map would suffice

I initially thought of my own, but I farm that all time. I would like a central Illinois one. Too bad lamcyboi will be a 4x times map. I hope custom modding is still working on theirs.
1300 acre farm, finish out just about 10,000 hogs a year, 200 cattle, and xbox one and pc user.

I live and grew up 140 miles straight Northwest of Lexington in Sidney IA. Not far from the Missouri River or the nishnabotna's. And I'll second the want for a map based on the Missouri River bottoms

I'd love an East Anglia (UK) map ... (I've started making one several times over, each time getting a bit further and getting more respect for modders) ... big fields, deep drainage ditches, narrow roads with banks or ditches on both sides, old brick-built farm buildings extended and updated with the big steel-framed barns: potatoes, beet, wheat and OSR, maybe cattle on the soft ground by the river.

Ah well ... maybe by GE10 I'll be able to do it!

What I would like to see:
  • Map with 2 asphalt roads, one runs north south, the other east west. These shouldn't be completely straight and also don't have to be centered in the map. Any additional roads should be dirt or gravel so they can be easily moved.
  • Small town where the roads cross with shop and all sell points. Additional buildings/houses to give it some flavor, but not a ton.
  • Dozen or small premade fields taking up the center 1/4 of the map around the town. Any placed buildings for the starting farm should be placables and be able to be removed.
  • Rest of the map forest and meadows to allow the player to expand however they wish.
  • Map should have some roll to it and not be completely flat, but also not so steep that it can't be farmed unless for some minor terrain features.
  • No buried trees, random junk or other stuff that gets in the way.
  • All land except for the town area to be purchasable.

In all honesty, the map I would love the most would be along the lines of South Mountain Creamery, but morphed with a Frontier Designs style. The buildings that Black sheep made were very nice and they did a wonderful job, but I personally prefer (not a knock on BSM) how OxygenDavid and BB and company do their trees and bushes, especially how Oxy did them on Marwell. As far as why that map?, I like that kind of terrain and farming, as it's very similar to where I love being only about a 5 hour drive away here around the Appalachians.

I'd love to see more maps in far flung (for me) areas... like maybe a map set in Asia.

I suppose my ideal maps are already here. Marwell manor is about an hours drive from me & medowgrove is very much like a 5 minute drive away so I can already identify myself with the terrain on both . I think the attraction with mercury farms has the strongest pull simply because there is the option delete & replace nearly everything except hedges & barbed wire fenced so for me I'd say more like mercury would suit me fine , other than that nothing specific

Bugger, looks like I've talked myself into a new map,..................Peterville here I come 🤣🤣
Swapped the tractor seat for a truck, 30 years later & still regretting it !
