What’s a tradie?Luftkopf wrote: ↑Thu May 21, 2020 2:34 pmYeah. Vegemite sandwiches are pretty basic, but sometimes it’s all you want to eat. Bread + Butter + Vegemite.
I’m not aware of it being a euphemism for anything, but this is Australia. Everything’s a euphemism for something here. It’s been a while since I hung out with tradies.

Haha, translating Australian to Rest Of World is fun.Mwal wrote: ↑Thu May 21, 2020 2:46 pmWhat’s a tradie?Luftkopf wrote: ↑Thu May 21, 2020 2:34 pmYeah. Vegemite sandwiches are pretty basic, but sometimes it’s all you want to eat. Bread + Butter + Vegemite.

Um a tradie is a worker of a certain class. Generally a builder, carpenter, plumber, etc. They like their euphemisms.
Re: Duck song
Oh I see makes sense, I would be considered a tradie then and yes euphemisms must be a global thing amongst us because we like them as well here in the states.Luftkopf wrote: ↑Thu May 21, 2020 3:01 pmHaha, translating Australian to Rest Of World is fun.Mwal wrote: ↑Thu May 21, 2020 2:46 pmWhat’s a tradie?Luftkopf wrote: ↑Thu May 21, 2020 2:34 pm

I used to be one myself, until I did my back in. Now I drive a desk. I missed out of the whole deal with euphemisms though.
Re: Duck song
Did you guys get to the point where you have euphemisms for your euphemisms to the point where no one understands what the heck you are talking about?Luftkopf wrote: ↑Thu May 21, 2020 3:17 pmI used to be one myself, until I did my back in. Re: Duck song
...all this talk about vegemite sandwiches is making me so hungry I could eat the legs off a low flying duck. A couple of Bush biscuits wouldn't go astray either.

Are bush biscuits a euphemism for Wichita grubs?
Re: Duck song
I haven’t seen bush biscuits around for ages! Don’t think I’ve had one since the 80s!
