Five essential and realistic mods (Modhub)

Post by Alcarin75 »

What are your five essential and realistic mods (modhub) that you use on your maps.

Mention them so that everyone knows them.
I like to learn from everyone.

The most essential and realistic one, at least for the EU, would be Government Subsidy.

Government subsidies are a thing not only in the EU. There would be no farming in the 1st world without subsidies

And those subsidies could be avoided if real life farmers would actually get good prices for their goods. But unfortunately the economy does not value the hard work and dedication our farmers around the world take upon their shoulders to feed the world.

That has not much to do with the economy, it's the people.
In the 1st world countries most people can afford paying a bit more, they just don't want to. And if they do pay extra for food it's for random things that actually cost less to reproduce or paying for a nice brand.
Generally we're all cheaper is better.
Sure, there are people that have less money to spend, but that's not the majority.
I assume people don't use Seasons, unless they say otherwise.

Different approach to the same thing.
Paying more directly for your food.
Paying more taxes to get your cheap food.

Indeed. it's a bit socialistic but it does ensure that poorer communities have access to nutritious foods.

Anyway, back on topic

Follow Me - because it is realistic to have workers on a farm that can drive behind you. Absolutely essential
ProSeed - Can't seed fields without it
Seasons - well duh
Guidance Steering - the game is completely unplayable without this mod.
Manure system

QuickCamera - because being able to look back at the implement is what you do.
ExtendedDriving - because I'm used to it can can't do left-trigger back, right-trigger forward
Lime Extension - too few lime spreaders
Increased fuel consumption - otherwise fuel is pointless
Seasons - I almost didn't put this one done since without Seasons FS19 is better described as "Tractor Driver"
Playing new "Beest" Intel i7-11700F with GeForce GTX 3060 and XBOX controller
also £600 laptop - AMD Ryzen 5600H with GeForce GTX 3050 XBOX controller

My five top picks when it comes to realism:

By far number 1: Seasons

Other always used mods on every save.

- Vehicle Control Addon (has also a GPS function which I find easier to handle than Guidance Steering)
- Higher fuel consumption – don`t want to repair my vehicles more often than to refuel them
- Manual Attach
- Forage Extension (plus Maize Plus and CCM-Extension)

honorable mention: Filltype mass adjustment

What you buy in the stores, is not the prices the farmers received. The markets are screwed up, especially with the virus. Example, when all the packing plants closed ours pigs were getting sold for .20 a lb that's a 60 dollar lost per pig. That same pig woke go to a grocery store and 1 of its pork chops cost 8 dollars. The packers are making a killing. Hogs have rebounded a little, it is up to .45 a lb. The market shows 60 something, but after the packers cut it is like 45. I wish we got the prices you see in stores. We would be making a killing then.
1300 acre farm, finish out just about 10,000 hogs a year, 200 cattle, and xbox one and pc user.

No one is claiming that the farmers get anywhere close to what we see in the shops. There is a whole production chain and every cog needs to get their money. The point is that if farmers were getting paid more in the markets, then food would end up being more expensive. Currently farmers get subsidies and grants and that’s how they make ends meet. In the UK sheep farming actually runs at a loss per head before subsidies.

First, here we don't get subsidies unless there is a relief act, like with covid, or a natural disaster. Second, if you look at the production line, things in the stores sound be cheap again as everything is fully open, but the market prices do not reflect that. You would think the farmers would get a good price if there is a need for a product, but that isn't so. China has bought over a million ton of product this month, but the prices have gone down for the most part. I'm just saying the markets are messed up and do not reflect actually prices. Talking about sheep this year, I made 200 per lamb. Sold them directly to a Muslim community, granted we only had 30 of them instead of the 3000 hogs like we do.

> The federal government spends more than $20 billion a year on subsidies for farm businesses. About 39 percent of the nation's 2.1 million farms receive subsidies, with the lion's share of the handouts going to the largest producers of corn, soybeans, wheat, cotton, and rice.

39 percent is actually pretty low in the large scheme of 2.1 million farms. Your statement is like the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Doesn't seem right. The rich farmers shouldn't need as much help as the smaller one.

Seasons, period. I won't ever play the game without it.
