Console and Giants.
Re: Console and Giants.
The thing to bare in mind is FS22 isn't coming out tomorrow. It'll be potentially coming out in maybe late October or early November. A little while away yet for console sales to increase even further and for people who are maybe on the fence about getting a new console this year to save up for one.
I really don't see the point in us waiting 3 years for a new FS game only for us pretty much just to get FS-19 all over again. I'm not sure it even makes commercial sense for them to aim for the PS4 and Xbox One if the new version is old before its even released. People won't even bother buying it if it doesn't look great.

Re: Console and Giants.
Again exactly my point they’re hard to get because everyone wants one. So where will giants be when they hypothetically release the game this fall after everyone has got there new gen consoles? The big games launching on PS4 are made by Sony or the only other I can think of is cyberpunk which I’m not even sure is playable yet. By the time giants releases the next game there will be mobile games that look as good as early PS4 and Xbox one games

Re: Console and Giants.
Forget the old consoles. I am already worrying about slot limits in the current game, and have to pick maps accordingly. I can't imagine a more complex, better looking ps4 game that would have less of a slot limit. I see it being maxed all the time. And then if they were to dumb it down to make it runnable on the older consoles, well, then what's the point.

Re: Console and Giants.
Slot limits will always be with consoles, yes they limit play but everyone has gotten used to it
Re: Console and Giants.
I think you miss his point, it’s not the there’s slot limits, rather any improved game on PS4 would have even worse slot limits.

Re: Console and Giants.
That's the way fs15 was on xbox 360 and ps3. Slots=RAM
Re: Console and Giants.
The processor in the PS5 is from AMD and is 8 core/16 thread. Very much like the current processors for the PC. Hopefully Giants is at the point of using all cores effectively.
Re: Console and Giants.
GIANTS Engine is far from multi threaded, as it’s a hold over from the days Intel only made quad cores for the consumer market.

Re: Console and Giants.
Giants has been way behind with regards to supporting new hardware. The only reason their game runs better on a new generation console is because the console has more recourses. If you play a game that was built for 10+ year old hardware, on new hardware, the game just runs better by default. No improvements needed by the developer, so no need to make the effort.
Re: Console and Giants.
In large part that’s due to Intel, high single tread performance on quad cores for nearly a decade made multi threading games a waste of resources and 6 and 8 cores only became common in the last 4 years leaving us in the current situation.FarmBoss wrote: ↑Thu Feb 18, 2021 4:25 pmGiants has been way behind with regards to supporting new hardware. Re: Console and Giants.
I play on PS4 and Mac. I have a PS5 on order finally!!!
I enjoy FS19 on both PS4 and Mac
I find the slot count and restriction on mods with the PS4 Version annoying but workable.
On Mac (iMac 2017 with extra Ram installed) I can run on ultra high settings with a decent frame rate.
My point is...... I think they should develop the next version of the game to utilise the extra capability of the next gen consoles and not be held back by a generation of consoles that is several years old now.
However.... In the interim, could they not release a next Gen update that increases the slot count just a bit and maybe include more detailed graphics settings similar to the current PC version? Surely that’s not too much to ask?
That would keep next gen owners relatively happy, while prolonging the support for existing gen owners while they take time to perfect a proper next gen version for release a bit later when the user base is better?

Re: Console and Giants.
It depends, wait and see i guess
Re: Console and Giants.
From what I've heard and seen, the slot limit is in the base game code and determined by Sony and Microsoft. That way it doesn't over heat the first generation PS4 and Xbox 1. Wanting them to release an update for PS5 and Xbox is pretty much asking for the next game because it would be a 3rd version of FS19. Whatever limitations put on the new consoles is, again, set by Sony and Microsoft. Also what scripting is allowable is up to them as well. Until the next game is released, everyone on console will have to deal with the current slot limits and limitations in general.
Re: Console and Giants.
If they continue in the same step, it will only be an improved fs19.
If they continue in the same step, we'll have the same fs19 issues on Xbox one, but in the next generation. It will be a slightly more beautiful game, however with the same fps problems and few slots.
I see games like Warthunder for example and I get outraged by FS. They just can't make it happen.
The engine of the game is precarious, outdated. And if they don't change that it's just more of the same.
It won't be a bigger jump than it was from 15 to 17 and to 19.
I love the game and would like to see it work, but unfortunately do not believe in the ability to improve giants developers.
They need a competitor at the height. Maybe so they really seek to improve the game for the consoles.

Re: Console and Giants.
They have had competitors but they uh... kinda flopped, or at the minimum are small games that are niche realism simulators that most FS players would be bored of in no time.
