Winter DLC?

Post by FarmerJohn89 »

Now that it's February I was just wondering when does winter end for giants?
I guess February is still winter-ish....

I think you are asking when the DLC is going to come out, in which case there has been no official date communicated. But to be pedantic, winter in the northern hemisphere ends on March 19th.

Yup that was the jist of it.
March 19th really! Yikes March 19th is very much peak Spring as far as I'm concerned.

It depends who you ask? (I doubt Giants will respond on the forum though, especially if there is no official date).

In my mind, winter has always been the 3 months of Dec-Jan-Feb.

The Spring equinox would indicate the middle of spring, right?

My way of thinking is that winter is Nov, Dec, Jan. with Dec 21st being the peak of the winter and then spring and autumn peaking in the equinox's and summer peaking on June 21st.
But I am assuming they are going to do a few Friday Fact sheets for the DLC and the fact they haven't started yet seems a bit odd to me.
Like is the DLC going to be a lot smaller than I'm expecting (I'm expecting at least £10 worth of content)
If there isn't a Factsheet on Friday I will be very concerned about the shape and size of this DLC.

Astronomically (position of Earth in relation to the sun in the northern hemisphere) the 20th March is the start of spring this year, and runs up to the summer solstice on the 21st June. The precise dates can change each year, but only by a day or two.

Meteorologically (temperature cycles in the northern hemisphere) the seasons are as follows:
Spring: March, April, May
Summer: June, July, August
Autumn: September, October, November
Winter: December, January, February.

I wouldn't take GIANTS schedule too literally though. It was a guide to give hints and generate hype rather than a precise calendar. Frankly getting the game to the state it should be in is the more important factor at the moment.

I would expect the seasonal calendar for Giant's to be the same as they have in game. Dec/Jan/Feb are winter months. March/April/May Spring. As there's another DLC planned for spring I doubt they will wait till March. But I could be wrong as I often am when trying to predict Giant's behaviour.

I believe the rumor was for the DLC to be out by Easter.

Fixing the game should be the number 1 priority at the moment.
