Productions take only specific tree types?

Giants went through all the effort of differanciating between the various tree types, was there any though given to creating tree specific productions, or has any modder attempted this? I personally think it would be an AWESOME idea and great way to add even more immersion to forestry. I've been watching the internet and searching numerous forums and such on this topic for a good while, but searches come up totally empty.

The Platinum DLC's shingles are packed in boxes labeled "Cedar Shingles". Cedar isn't in the game. So, was there any thought put into wood-specific productions? It would seem not.
