How to open house / barn / car doors on Nintendo switch?

My son has Farming Simulator 23 on Nintendo Switch and we can't figure out how to open car doors to drive other vehicles, open barn, shed doors or house doors so that he can explore. He has watched lots of online videos of people doing that but can't figure out how to do it. We can get into some tractors etc but not other vehicles.

Is this possible on Nintendo Switch and on this version? Thanks for any help

You can only enter cars/tractors that you own - and with that said, some map makers place forklifts at some productions that you can enter, but not tab to. The same goes with houses, you have to own the land the house is on, to be able to open the door and enter the building.

Buuuuuut... Those videos he has been watching, is that the mobile version (FS23) they are playing?

Short answer: You can't.

In FS23 you can't enter buildings unless they are already open like the farm garage at Amberstone.

However you can enter the vehicles that you own.
When you stand beside a vehicle you can press the (I think) Y button to enter, and to leave.
It is shown down below on the screen which button is needed.
With the cross shaped button you can jump from one vehicle to another with the parts of this button, that are at the side.
The doors of the vehicles can't be open. You jump directly into the closed vehicle.

The videos that you watched, are probably not of the mobile version FS23 but of the big Farming Simulator 22. There players have much more possibilities.
