Corrupt save, AGAIN

Post by Wolwerin_66 »

Hello. It happened again! I was calmly playing my beautiful farm in the Carpathian countryside, I saved the game, went to the menu and then turned off the game. What a surprise when the next day the game won't load and another 20 hours in the a**. The game is unplayable. In 20 hours I finally get the farm up and running and it's useless to me. In total, the game took away 40 hours from me!! I only have your official mods except for the map, but I can play 20 hours without a problem and suddenly there's a problem? I ask for at least an explanation, otherwise I have no choice but to return to FS22. Thank you

Hello. If anyone, Giants or otherwise stands any chance at helping you, they will need a LOT more information. What platform are you on? If PC/Mac, please include your log.text as well. Even demanding a simple "explanation" kind of requires you to provide enough information for people to even understand the exact nature of your problem. As far as anyone knows from the information you provided, you could have a corrupt sector in an old HHD or some silly nonsense that has nothing at all to do with the game.

I added it to the PS/Xbox folder, so yes, I play on Xbox. I have no explanation, no description, nothing. That's why I'm writing this here. The game simply crashes after reaching 100% loading. End, no error message. Last time Giant wrote back to me that it was a mod problem. What mods? Why does the game work with mods for about 20 hours? As I wrote, I use official mods except for the map.

Well theres a couple thousand mods available on the modhub. We have no way of knowing which mods you are using. Giants can only test the mod itself, they cant test it against all the other mods and possible combinations of mods that any one player may use. Unfortunately, sometimes mods dont play together nicely and you get conflicts. As in your case, maybe theres something in particular you are trying to do at that time that brings up a conflict and you get a crash or corrupted save. Maybe it has to do with a change in the time of year. We have no way of knowing because there are thousands of variables at play

Hello,

Thank you for the detailed report, and I'm really sorry to hear about the lost progress. Losing 40 hours on a farm you have put that much work into is incredibly frustrating, and you are definitely not the only Xbox player seeing this in FS25.

There is a known issue behind it. Farming Simulator 25 has had several save-related bugs on Xbox, especially when using large mod maps like the Carpathian countryside. GIANTS has addressed parts of this in recent patches — for example patch 1.11 fixed large mod maps not saving correctly on the Microsoft Store/Xbox version, and the latest patch 1.19 fixed corrupt mods causing the game to get stuck on loading. Even official mods have been part of the problem at times.

The most common trigger is the autosave system. If the game starts an autosave and it is interrupted — for example by going to the menu and quitting too quickly, or by turning off the console — the save file can be left incomplete. The next time you load, the game cannot read it. Many players have found the same pattern: everything works fine for 15 to 20 hours, then one bad save corrupts the file.

You may still be able to recover it:

On the Load Game screen, check if your save shows a "Backup 1" or "Backup 2" underneath it. FS25 keeps two automatic backups.
On Xbox, go to My games & apps > Farming Simulator 25 > Manage game > Saved data, delete the local save only, then restart the game. This forces the console to download the last cloud version.
Also clear the Reserved Space in that same menu, then try loading with all mods disabled first. If it loads, re-enable mods slowly.
To help prevent it happening again, most Xbox players are now doing this:

Turn off Autosave in Settings > Game Settings, and save manually instead
After you save, wait until the save icon has completely disappeared, wait another 10 seconds, then use Menu > Quit to return to the dashboard before closing the game
Keep at least 20% free space on your internal drive
Make sure the game and all mods are fully updated before loading
I completely understand the temptation to go back to FS22, it was much more forgiving with saves. FS25 is still stabilizing on console, but with manual saves and a proper quit, it has become much more reliable since the recent updates.

Thanks again for the feedback, it really does help the team prioritize these fixes. I hope you can get the backup working and get back to your Carpathian farm.

Best regards
