Yes, there are some mods with errors, but on my hardware setup, they are quite insignificant and don't hurt my gameplay experience; I run the game at 60 fps with no loading or movement issues on the PV Rivers Remastered 25 map. My specs are: i5-13400F, 16GB of RAM, and an RTX 5050 GPU with the latest DLSS 4.5 updates.elevenfourteen wrote: Thu Oct 01, 2026 6:19 pm Take a look at your log.txt before claiming it works perfectly fine. =)
But seriously: there is a limit. Either it's Straw Harvest, or any other mod out there, that adds fill types: you will reach the limit eventually. Don't blame us, blame the fill type limit. Beans and Alpacas will add even more fill types, so you can add even less with mods.
The new update 1.24 broke the fil limit of the game.

Has nothing to do with specs. If the game breaks due to a call stack or whatever, the game breaks. Simple as that. And if the player is already aware of error messages in their save file, then in the event of a problem, there’s really only one person to blame. And it’s not the modder. =)

You got some kind of heart coming on here suggesting that we *checks notes* manage our own mod folder properly and not blame modders or the game for inevitable game breaking errors and bugs caused because we may or may not have added as many gb of mods as the game installation is.. real nerve

That's right, PrincessJessi84! If the game allows for adding various mods—and we can even create our own to make the game more interesting for players—why should we have to remove them just to run the official mods released on the ModHub? Personally, I’ve really enjoyed the game since FS13, especially maps featuring mining and full railway systems that incorporate minerals into the extraction process and the production of other goods.PrincessJessi84 wrote: Fri Oct 02, 2026 1:35 pmYou got some kind of heart coming on here suggesting that we *checks notes* manage our own mod folder properly and not blame modders or the game for inevitable game breaking errors and bugs caused because we may or may not have added as many gb of mods as the game installation is.. real nerve![]()

Re: The new update 1.24 broke the fil limit of the game.
You do realise, though, that the limit isn’t something we’ve set, don’t you?
Farming Simulator has a limit of 255 fill types and 63 height types. This was set by Giants and should normally be sufficient. Once the limit of 255 fill types is reached, the game will throw up one or even several errors, or may cause further problems. We’re simply making this error visible with our message and drawing some attention to it. It’s there even without Straw Harvest, because you can reach this limit without it, too.
Now there’s this message, which is necessary, and for a few people it’s a huge problem. Since the DLC completely breaks without these fill/height types, as a lot of it depends on them, and we display the dialogue box, it’s easy to point to the DLC as the cause, especially as it actually does a pretty good job of telling you it won’t work.
And yes, the game does, of course, allow you to add an incredible amount of extra content from an incredible number of brilliant modders. But even the game has its limits. In this case, it’s the fill types and height types. As already mentioned, we don’t impose this restriction.
Even without ‘Straw Harvest’ and the message, some players will certainly encounter problems with ‘Beans and Alpacas’ at the latest, as that will surely add another 10+ fill types. Who’s to blame then?
Even though some people are bound to take it that way, this error message from Straw Harvest is not intended as a personal attack on players or their favourite game series. It is meant to be helpful. It’s a shame that it isn’t seen in that light by some.

I understood, certainly, but the issue is that this message—combined with the fact that the SHP wouldn't load on the map that had previously been working (despite the errors)—forced me (in my specific case) to unfortunately disable the SHP so I could keep playing my save. I wanted to keep using the SHP on my favorite map save (accepting the risk regarding the errors), but this important new update displays that error—which, as you mentioned, is there to warn about the game engine's limitations regarding the inclusion of too many "filltypes', as these can cause conflicts and end up breaking the game.elevenfourteen wrote: Fri Oct 02, 2026 6:33 pm You do realise, though, that the limit isn’t something we’ve set, don’t you?

Re: The new update 1.24 broke the fil limit of the game.
I know this is a pc topic but for any console players reading along and still unsure why there are still so many "restrictions" for console, this is a big ol part of the why. Even a capable pc or even a high end pc can have its performance limited and even experience game breaking bugs if the wrong combo of mods is used and/or you exceed the game engine limitations (like filltypes). And for pc players, let it be a word of caution. You don't need to have every mod, every production, every crop and filltype. Fly too close to the sun and you will get burned. Trim the fat from time to time, double check that your scripted mods aren't working double duty on the same thing causing conflicts and do your best to stay within the game engines limitations and your rigs limitations. Happy farming everyone.

It’s totally fine if you disable SH, but it also shows that you haven’t quite grasped the core of the whole thing yet.FarmerRody80 wrote: Fri Oct 02, 2026 8:04 pm

This thread would always exist, with or without our new error message:
Without our message, the discussion here would just be about how SH completely breaks while playing because it relies on the fill types or rather height types in this case. It doesn’t work without enough of them, it’s unplayable!
With our message, the issue now is that SH can’t run in the first place.
Either way, there won’t be any other solution besides removing mods that add height types or having the creator of your mod map increase the limit.
Or, as in your case: disabling an official DLC that goes the extra mile to support players, just so you can keep playing a save file that’s probably full of bugs and errors and will eventually stop working properly, until you’re finally forced to actually take action, assuming your save file doesn’t just break completely. I’m fine with all of these options, really, I do wonder though why anyone would invest hundreds of hours in a savegame especially while knowing it’s buggy and that problems could arise at any time; problems that will eventually have to be resolved anyway, so why not solve them right now, and do it right...

Re: The new update 1.24 broke the fil limit of the game.
Thing is, between mods like easy dev and being able to edit xml, its not like it would be hard to put it all back pretty well exactly the way you had it. Even field merging and what have you is easily reproduced with that mod that lets you draw fields from the construction menu. There is even a new one that will flatten areas and add slopes to the same effect. No reason not to restart with all the issues resolved from the word go. I am currently running just short of 700 mods on a pc that frankly I ask way too much of and I have 0 errors and my performance is honestly better than lots of people say it should be. No one is suggesting that you can't use lots of mods to have fun and play your way. You just have to be smart about it is all and keep up on that log. Error free from every direction should always be the desired result. Most anything else is just problems waiting to happen.

Aber warum lief es vor dem Update dann einwandfrei und jetzt nichtmehr? Ich habe garkeine Fülltypen-Mods hinzugefügt.

Because you had the error all along, nothing just told you it was there. Now it does tell you.Johni6110 wrote: Sun Oct 04, 2026 8:04 pm Aber warum lief es vor dem Update dann einwandfrei und jetzt nichtmehr? Ich habe garkeine Fülltypen-Mods hinzugefügt.

If it just told you about the error that would be one thing, but your update actually stops you from playing. Doesnt matter to me because I dont use SH anywayelevenfourteen wrote: Sun Oct 04, 2026 8:18 pmBecause you had the error all along, nothing just told you it was there. Re: The new update 1.24 broke the fil limit of the game.
If it just told you about the error it wouldn't have any effect as Straw Harvest depends on the height types and breaks if there are non left, and then the same topic would be here just with the message, that there is supposedly a bug. I think it is not necessary to repeat myself. This topic is already filled with more than enough information. If you're really interested, feel free to read it. Since you don't play with SH, as you mentioned, this shouldn't be a concern for you.
