XboxOne Steering Wheel

Post by Delta »

Has anyone tried the steering wheel support for XboxOne yet? If so are the controls smooth? Can you switch to a controller easy so you can control the boom/grapple on the buffalo or scorpion king? Been looking at buying a Steering wheel but was wanting to get the opinion of someone else whose tried it.

Since all the available wheels I know of have no analog axes on the wheel (except for the wheel of the Saitek Precision Control System, which is PC only atm), you need to fallback to the normal Gamepad to control the boom/grapple of the vehicles. Both the Gamepad and the wheel can be used simultaneously, so it shouldn't be a big issue.
Normal field work, however, fully works with the wheel, so this definitely gives some improvements for the controls.

Would love to have a dedicated controller for controlling the boom/grapple. Can anyone recommend a good wheel for XboxOne?

You say atm, so does this mean there is plans/talks about porting the Saitek wheel to XboxOne/PS4.
After looking at the wheels available I decided not to get one due to the fact none have analog sticks on the wheel so operating a front loader, buffalo, scorpion king with a normal xbox one wheel is out of the question.

When you say both the gamepad and wheel can be used simultaneously do you mean the wheel and controller be on at the same time?(drive with the wheel, look around/control front loader with controller)

We (and Saitek) are currently investigating some options on how to make the Saitek wheel available for XB1/PS4 as well, however we cant make any promises yet.

A wheel and the controller can be on at the same time. So you can drive with the wheel while you look around and operate frontloaders with the controller (if you can manage that physically ;) )

I know, the option is not optimal, but that's the unfortunate design of most of the wheels. Actually, this was one of the main reasons, why we spent so much energy on realizing our own wheel for FS.

Hope you all figure out how to bring the Saitek wheel to XB1/PS4.

Awesome I will go buy a wheel then. Being able to look around and control frontloaders etc was my only concern.

Thanks for replying Stegei.
