Growth stage indicator

Post by Straw-Walker »

Ok, so now I'm really peed off! I thought I had this growth stage thing sorted. I bought field 22 on GCV with a crop on it. I'd timed it so that a growth stage had just happened so I'd plenty of time to harvest, plough, fertilize and sow it.
I should have had at least 2 hours by the time I started sowing with my Kuhn power harrow/drill combo but, though it all looked fine when I finished in just over an hour, when I came back to apply the second dose of fertilizer, the first half dozen drill widths were up and the rest bare. I play the game 'straight', normal crop growth and real time except, as I need some sleep, I fast forward 6 hours at night.
I would really like to see one of our wonderful Modders produce a simple growth stage indicator. Something like the fuel, fert and seed bar-graphs would be great.
Thanks for reading my rant. *thumbsup*

One of our wonderful Modders has already created such a mod: http://www.farming-simulator.com/mod.ph ... tle=fs2017

:biggrin2: Thanks, I've tried that and couldn't get it to work (probably a senior moment) but I'll have another go. :confusednew:

I still can't get the Growth Control mod to work. All it seems to have done is freeze the growth speed on 'Normal'. I hate to criticize our beloved Modders, :blushnew: but sometimes the instructions for use assume that the user knows what he is doing, unlike me, a bit dim sometimes. :confusednew:

What exactly doesn't work? Is the hud not showing when you press the left "shift" key and "Y"?

To verify that the mod is loaded correctly please verify that the log.txt contains the following lines:

Code: Select all

--- loading growthcontrol V17.3 (c) by aPuehri --- loading initialvalues ---
--- Remaining Time[wheat]: = 30 hours ---
--- Remaining Time[grass]: = 22 hours ---
--- Remaining Time[rape]: = 25 hours ---
--- Remaining Time[barley]: = 28.5 hours ---
--- Remaining Time[maize]: = 21 hours ---
--- Remaining Time[not used]: = 0 hours ---
--- Remaining Time[potato]: = 15 hours ---
--- Remaining Time[sugarBeet]: = 18.5 hours ---
--- Remaining Time[sunflower]: = 19 hours ---
--- Remaining Time[soybean]: = 18 hours ---
--- Remaining Time[oilseedRadish]: = 20 hours ---
--- Remaining Time[poplar]: = 35 hours ---

I've found the problem :biggrin2: . I looked at modDesc.xml and noticed 'Left shift-'z''. Hud came up immediately *thumbsup* . I'm still not sure how to use the information. Why are there different times for different crops and is the time shown to the next growth stage? They seem a bit long compared to the 6 hours mentioned in the 'Slow plant growth' thread. I'm still hoping that the little light that activates my brain cell will turn on soon. :confusednew:

Sorted! :biggrin2: For any one else who may need more detailed information on using this mod, this is what I learned.
In your 'Farming Simulator' folder, open 'Save game' then, with 'notepad' or similar, open 'Growth control' where you can edit 'Time to next growth stage' and 'Seed rate' for each crop individually. *thumbsup* Save, then, to open the HUD in the game, it's Left shift with Z, not Y, unless it's different for non UK keyboards.
I realise that this may be obvious to anyone with some computer knowledge :geeknew: but for me, it took a while to work it out.
