Why are the case 7130 and 9230 so slow
Might be the wrong area but as concle player and not able to change speeds of a machine I find it very annoying the the combines go so slow. It is even more annoying now that it is harvest time here and I jump in my real 8230 combine and it goes 23 mph but in game my 9230 goes 14 mph. And now the new 8240 goes 25mph so why did they not match what the real machines can do. Thanks
Re: Why are the case 7130 and 9230 so slow
Because it's a game I imagine. It's a simulator not a replicator. There needs to be some sort of artificial difference between vehicles besides skins. "Performance" is a way to do that.
Re: Why are the case 7130 and 9230 so slow
If you have tracks on the case it's slower than wheels.
Re: Why are the case 7130 and 9230 so slow
Up until sometime in the last 10 years 18mph was as fast as most any farm equipment would go.

A simulator, by definition, is supposed to simulate reality. If a RL tractor goes 25 MPH, then the one in the simulator should do 25.Nigelbilt wrote:Because it's a game I imagine. There are plenty of examples of cheaper tractors that go faster than more expensive ones. Look at the JCB tractors, for example.
Are you talking about the speed during harvesting or the max speed of the combine when driving around? It's possible to create a mod and modify the in-game vehicle; there are some downloadable "cheat" versions of various combines that add capacity, make them faster, or just make them cheaper. If you can post more details about the combine's performance, maybe someone will be able to help you with a more realistic version of the combine.farmerjon88 wrote:Might be the wrong area but as concle player and not able to change speeds of a machine I find it very annoying the the combines go so slow. By definition, it's an imitation with purpose. Simulation has never meant 1:1 with reality. Hence it's a simulation, not a replication. The word "simulation" doesn't mean what the vast amount of simulation enthusiasts think it means. Which leads to complaints of 9mph like this.
Why do you assume cost equals better? And what does that have to do with performance differences and their implementation?

This really turns me off using these combines in the game, I really like the way they look but don't use them because of this. Pretty much everything else they got the right speed to match the RL version except for these combines and the Lizard semis..... I mean really since when does a highway truck max out at 40 mph.....but anyways if the OP says the RL 30 series Case combines can do 23 mph then thats what they should do......a small issue but an annoying one

^^ya, I wish I could use these, but being slower and having less capacity then the nh it really aint worth it, the pipe has a good length though

Unless you were around Fendt.....the vario trans stuff has been fast for a long time. Our oldest tractor is a 1990 White 120 and it's the slowest at 23mph. Our Agco DT180(last l year of the 18sp powershift) will run at 27.5 and the AGCO RT155a(same class size as the in game Massey 7700 series) will do 33-34.CattleMan wrote:Up until sometime in the last 10 years 18mph was as fast as most any farm equipment would go.

Maybe because that's what cost means. You pay more money for a better product, one that is superior in some way. In a video game, a higher cost always equals better capabilities - at least in theory. The whole price structure in this game is set up so that you buy better equipment to "level up".Nigelbilt wrote:Why do you assume cost equals better? In fact, the term simulator means exactly what the vast amount of simulation enthusiasts think it means, because that is its actual definition. Here's the textbook definition: "a machine with a similar set of controls designed to provide a realistic imitation of the operation of a vehicle, aircraft, or other complex system, used for training purposes."Nigelbilt wrote:By definition, it's an imitation with purpose. A simulator is supposed to represent the real thing. Flight Simulators represent real airplanes with as much fidelity as possible; ideally, a person who can fly a plane in a flight simulator can sit down in a real aircraft and also fly it. In fact, an airline pilot's first time flying an airliner is on a flight full of passengers, because the simulators are that good.
And there's no such thing as a "replicator" in computer terms. A replicator is a living organism or cell that reproduces itself.
You are literally redefining terms to suit your definition. What you're describing is properly termed a game. If this program is a game, then it should be called something other than Farming Simulator.

Could the speed difference be due to market? The only set of specs showing the maximum speed for the 30 series that I can find are European (https://konedata.net/puimurit/internati ... 0-2011-14/). They show the max. speed as 25 kph (15.5 mph). Could it be that the North American ones have different specs? It wouldn't be too odd. MF doesn't even sell the same combines in Europe and North America.

There's different laws involved in different markets, AGCO has been going on a PR binge against grey market Fendt, Massey, & Valtra equipment in the US that shouldn't be here and doesn't meet North American standards

Sure bud, same argument simulation elitists have always used. Farming Simulator is a game and if think it's not, if you think "simulations" hold some superiority over "games", that is your issue to deal with.TomXP411 wrote:Maybe because that's what cost means. As for the rest, there is no way to debate the vast amount of wrong in your post. You are literally changing concepts to suit your own agenda.

Says the guy who made up the term "replicator."Nigelbilt wrote:

Anyway: farmerjon88, I'm trying to build a mod to increase the speed of the Case harvesters... every time I try to mod the game, I seem to break things, so i'm not sure if this will even work, but I'm trying.
