On a miniature models forum there was a member who's dad had a peat farm in the Netherlands. Loved all the pictures he always showed.
Also because the equipment was spotless clean.

peat is organic based soil, also called turf. Years and years dead plants in swampy areas compacted layer on layer.

Then if you dry out the land, you can use it as plants bedding material or burn it to get heat
