Off-topic (read "subject") ...

This is not only an issue for this forum, it is something that happens to "connected people" on a daily basis .

I have a request for anyone that might read this ...

When ever you are creating a new topic on a forum (or sending an email to someone for that matter).
PLEASE ... take a few seconds to think about what you type as the "subject".

It might come as a complete surprise for some but this "feature" is actually there for a very good reason!

Choosing a "correct" subject (especially on a forum, where your post is addressing "anyone") is the best way of attracting the attention of the most suitable person to solve your problem or the most interesting person(s) to debate your opinion with ... etc ...

Here is a few ones that I personally "like" ... :chinese:

"?"

"HELP"

"I have a question"

"FS17"

"Does anyone know ..."

- - - - -
Bump ... "You cannot make another post so soon after your last."

Well, those titles grab various sayings from me...

It is really hard to understand the laziness level of people these days.

Good topic W1der *thumbsup* But I don't think it would get the deserved attention.

I hate this "you cannot make another post so soon after your last" baby stuff . I hate how i have to wait for what feels like 24 hours . Good topic.

Edit by Guil. Please don't continue to post in that tone.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

Not sure what issue you are trying to explain, but you might want to start a new topic or make a post in this one (link below).

Community Request: Improved Thread Titles!

Greetings fellow Farmers!

TL;DR: Increasing number of low-quality/ambiguous/disingenuous/controversial thread titles, recommend raising the bar before we become an unmoderated cesspit!

Over the past months, I have personally observed a disturbing trend in the titles of new threads. I find many to be "click-baity", providing little/no insight into the content of the threads. I, for one, am beginning to lose interest in the forums because of how frequently I find myself clicking on a title, only to discover a "whine" thread, or another "recommendation" thread. In other instances, I might accidentally click on a thread with an ambiguous/misleading title (intending for the one above or below), only to find legitimate, quality content I would have otherwise overlooked.

For example, how many new threads in the last few months had a title along the lines of "GIANTS..."? How many new threads turn out to be feature recommendation threads, when we already have a global thread for this topic?

Thus, it is my recommendation that we, as a community, take extra time to invest the effort required to come up with a thread title that is sufficiently descriptive and reflective of the content in the main post, so that readers have a better understanding of the thread's intent without having to click on it to find out what it is really about. It is my belief that in doing so, we can shift the forums back towards the collaborative discussion environment it used to be, fostering legitimate discussions that will provide both developers and users with a platform to discuss all things FS-related.

Maybe we need to come up with some thread tags/flags like we have in the Bug Sub-Thread? Maybe [Recommendation], [Opinion], [Question], [Grievance], [Praise], [Shennanigans], [Low Effort S***Post], etc, in an effort to allow users to better filter through the posts?

Respectfully, for your consideration.

I think your topic is more suited for the "off-topic" section of the forum.

Could you please elaborate why? I believe my thread is relevant to General Discussion, as it is directly applicable within, in addition to the other areas.
