[RELEASED] TrailX 250 - double axle car trailer

I started a new project, a small car trailer with a bay measuring 250x130cm. This is the typical small car trailer you would see in my country (Belgium). It's made of a steel galvanized chassis, with boards made of concrete form plywood. The 250x130 size is about the largest trailer you can get of this type, bigger trailers need brakes and are subject to other traffic laws. You can get this type of trailer with one or two axles, I am making a double-axled one.

I want to include some features with this trailer:
- tensions belts
- cover
- fillable
- tensionbelt support (so you can strap it down on another trailer)

Good suggestion to make the ladder rack optional! Should not be too hard..

Here's a quick update: I completely redid the model because I was not happy with it, it was quite large in filesize which is not optimal for ingame performance. Since I want all my mods to be console ready, I also would like to keep the filesize of the model down to reduce slot count because something small like this trailer should not have a high slotcount. Sadly you can't test for that as far as I know.

Now I will finish UV mapping and start ingaming. I might have to draw up some wheels as I'm not sure the standard game has suitable ones.

I've also included a version without ladder rack:

I'm planning the following configurations right now:
- with/without spare wheel
- with/without jockey wheel
- with/without ladder rack

I would also like to animate the jockey wheel and the tailgate locks. The tailgate will be mouse controlled (or with joystick on console), and will also have a fold animation where it disappears.

And maybe I'll make the numberplate selectable!

That one has been out for a while now. I think third one will have a higher capacity and probably be a bit more stable.

Yes that one has been out a while! It is actually part of the reason why I am making a car trailer, it is a nice mod but not the style of trailer I want.

Right now, my trailer has:
- cover (I will try to add color options for the cover)
- 18 numberplate options
- removable tailgate
- optional spare wheel, nose wheel and ladder rack (+any combination of those)
- tensionbelts

Right now I am doing small tweaks to the model, I find the sides a bit too high. After that I will design foliage racks to add as another option.

Well, I don't know the dimensions of the ingame pallets. I know a lot of the pallets look like EPAL europallets, if they are true to their real life dimensions of 80x120cm my trailer would be able to just about handle three, if you are good at handling pallets. The groundplate of the trailer bay is 130x250cm, so that would be quite a close fit. But good question, I will test this the next time I test the mod and I will let you know!

Some other dimensions: the sides are now 35cm high, the fill capacity is 1300l (0.35x2.5x1.3meter = 1150l + some extra capacity because in real life you would be able to load the trailer higher up in the middle)

i measured it in the GE (measure in cm):
big bag pallets: 140 x 112
wool pallet: 150 x 100
tree saplings pallet: 142 x 100
poplar pallet: 140 x 100
pioneer Pallet: 160 x 130 (irregular)
fertilizerTank: 135 x 135
mission pallets: 165 x 125
apparently giants knows no standard pallet :biggrin2: :biggrin2:

Thanks for that, that's useful information! Based on that you would only be able to fit 1 pallet.

I tested it and indeed it will only take one pallet:

I also tested bales, you can fit one bale (if you stack them it would fit more) in the trailer:

Don't know if Giants just used random sizes, or if the whole game is scaled up a bit. The size ratio between the trailer and other ingame equipment seems realistic however, so I think the sizes of pallets are just random.
