PC Negatives

Post by PunkinFmr »

I have played FS since FS13 but always on consoles. It has always seemed more convenient and less expensive. However, I am investing in a new PC (current PC is from 2014) and seriously considering spending a little extra for one that I can game on. Realistically, what are the problems/pitfalls of PC FS play?

None so far from me since switching in October. Haven't looked back since. I had used my laptop that had it's limitations but finally built a PC.

You can get virus if you don't download from the correct sites. You can have more errors come up from mods.

If you're asking what you need to buy for game to run fairly smooth the game isnt that intensive. A mid range graphics card and CPU should work fine with FS19. Just make sure it had graphic card meant for gaming.

Let's see:

1. PC's aren't casual, so you can't sit on the couch in front of the TV to play FS (well, you can ...)
2. PCs need expensive wheel or you use keyboard (Although I use XBOX controller, after seeing that's what LandyKid uses)
3. PCs are super-expensive. (Well, "You pay's yer money and you takes yer choice." HOW much for a PS5?)
4. You can get viruses from downloading mods for dodgy sites. (This *IS* true, but you can also destroy a console by plunging it into boiling water: don't do either of these things.)
5. You can't play multiplayer with your mates on PS4/XBOX (Actually no idea about this)
6. They take up houseroom. (Laptop? Although I'd always rather a desktop case)
7. You get so many mods that they come out so soon that you are swamped for choice and never really play? (Okay, hand up to this one)
8. If stuff goes wrong, you have to learn how to fix it and it's complicated (That's so ... but what can you do with a bricked console but send it back?)

... but seriously ... up to you entirely, and non-PC players, feel free to put me right on these or any other points.

Nothing if you have good virus protection and avoid dodgy mod sites

Do errors happen often? Price isn’t necessarily a concern since I’m already in the market for a computer. I was think I wanted to go with the Xbox controller. Thank for the input!

I use my Xbox controller. Works well for driving. Errors can get numerous if you're downloading from dodgy sites or running a beta version of a mod. But once you know what you're doing some can be fixed yourself

There are no pitfalls as long as you have a PC at least as powerful as a current gen console.
There are many benefits to playing on PC, such as more configuration/settings and more mods.
The benefits go up the more you spend.

I use my Xbox controller and keep the keyboard and mouse handy. The pc is plugged into the Tv and I sit in the front room same as I did with the Xbox.

Negatives so far are sometimes there's too much choice, maps especially, a lot of broken or almost broken mods and the load times can really drag.
