I am trying to add liquid fertilizer to Custom Modding's John Deere Air Drill (and air cart?). What do I need to add, and where, to make this work?

I am trying to do this to make buying the rear hitch on the air cart worthwhile, by pulling the 1600 gallon liquid cart.

I'd recommend you looked at a mod that already has such a function.

Do I need to add the items to the air cart or the drill, or both?
