Problem with variable rate for applicators.

I am having a issue with either variable spray usage mod, the precision farming mo or the precision farming add-on mod. Everything works fine spreading lime but when I switch to fertilizer I run out or it immediately after I start it up. I have tried to find the line that says what the rate is and how much it takes to bring it up to that number but I have had no luck. Does anyone know how to fix it any other way?
OK, now I know that Precision farming isn't the problem. I found out how to change the rate. I did that and it is still running out fast. It's like you are suppose to drive like a maniac to get the fields done.
