Just a little wider?

Post by Boots »

Is there any way to make the pickup on balers and Forage Wagons just a little wider
The combine leaves a hump at the end of each strip and it would be handy if
the baler or forage wagon could pick it up on one go

I have the same issue though it is a very minor annoyance because my OCD will not let me just leave those 2 little piles

If you're on PC, you could always edit the mod. Working width is not hard to find inside there..

I typically avoid the pile by just driving on, rather dumping some of the field on my way to where I'll be driving back the field... Or drive over it a second time.

I am on PC and I am the same my OCD will not let me leave without picking up the straw
If a job is worth doing it is worth doing well
I don't know what to look for in the xml file and to just increase the pickup a little to be able
to get it all in one pass

In the combine, when you reach the end of a row, stop, and then backup a few metres. It spreads out that last dump of chaff so you don't get a pile at the end of the row.

^^^ I was going to suggest the same thing, when you reach the end of the row, if you back up a little bit while the straw is still flowing out. Then it will keep it in a little tighter of a line. In doing this I don't have a problem with the balers/wagons picking up the rows, including the ends of them. :hi:

I'd wager the OP is using AI helpers.

Ha ha. Well to be fair, I'm no farmer and I learned my technique from watching the AI.

Rake up the headlands with a windrower and do those first.

I just leave the excess myself. It's nice to have a bit left over in case you just need that tiny bit extra for the last bale. My OCD will allow me to leave straw/hay on the field, but it won't let me leave a baler with a partial bale in it.

Yes that's right it is the AI worker that leaves the pile and not only at the end of the field
The windrower is a good idea, did not think of that

Don't the AI still stop and back up to spread the load in FS22? They do in FS19.

If you are on pc move the working width nodes in GE untill you get a proper working width.

Just remember that any game files edits hampers mp.

And I'm sure we'll be getting a front mounted windrower again, with a center discharge

Run to one side a little, then back and grab the rest. AI leaves them when stopping for a full bin, too. (Still a 19'er.)
