why when i set the working width of a fertilizer speaker does an ai working not follow it? i use small ish machinery so want a 24m spreader width but as most are 42m i set it to 24, but when hiring a worker they just use 24 metres anyway?

Did you mean 42m instead of the last 24m?

Efficiency maybe, they don't use as much time when going full width...

But I'm pretty sure that there are several spreaders that can't go as wide as 42m - for example

Just use one of them instead...

The same reason the AI will take a full pass for a narrow strip. The AI can’t calculate all the changes and doesn’t see the field visually. Some things you’ll need to do yourself because the AI can’t.

Doing a narrow strip with the John Deere spreader, using AI it will turn on and off the spreader as it travels down it. So, AI can see but can't change the work width.

That’s likely related to Precision Farming as the AI distribution rates change accordingly.

I'm surprised that AI can't do this

The AI has never adjusted for small strips in any FS games I’ve played. If there’s a half meter width of wheat left, the AI will use the entire header unless it detects collision. Asking way too much to have a game recalculate on the fly like that.

In fs19 seeders and planters would stop planting on ground that was planted. so basicly section control. In fs22 they just plant over whats planted, seeds go down and new texture direction are beeing applied. fertilisers spreaders stop when they detet thaht the full width is already had product applied.

Yeah dont rely on the ai too much for this stuff, same goes for using multiple tools on one machine. Or if you dont add headlands and there's a small strip left the ai will back up all the way instead of making a turn. Just do some prep work so all the ai has to do is a nice and easy square field. Will save you a lot of hassle.
