Can somebody explain? I like having sheep in my farms but really miss the manure to spread on the fields.

There is so much stuff farming related that is NOT in the game it should actually be called "Quasi Farming Simulator" or "Looks Like Farming Simulator But Not Quite".

If you're on PC, maybe you can copy the manure info from the cowbarn xml or lua and add it to the sheepbarn, not sure if that would work.

Thanks Dim67. Yes, I guess you could cut-and-paste from a cow barn, but my skills are not that advanced.

Ok I looked into this for you and I guess it's more complicated because it's tied in with breeding, straw and slurry:

There seem to be some mods for it but they only work on modded maps specifically set up for this.

Just adding the manure section to your sheep barn will not be enough.
You need to add manure output to sheeps in the animal.xml file. But as this file is part of the encrypted dataS archive, you have no direct access to it.

Maybe you find a map that provides this file.

Don’t forget chicken scat. Look up Poisoned Waters by Frontline on YT. They give staggering numbers regarding chicken poop. Fenceless Husbandries will allow you to place a manure pit for horses. You’ll need to add straw of course. Admittedly, I haven’t tried it on a base game map.

Thanks Eische, sounds like a catch 22. Why don't Giants let modders access those files?

Good question.
During FS19 and beginning of FS22 I already ask Giants to make those files accessible for everyone. Not all the animal files for sure. Just the ones that are needed to adjust their inputs/outputs/names.
They don't want to do it. No reason provided.

Hof Bergmann (Farmer Andy) and Wild West (cazz64) are two examples of maps where horses and chickens produce manure.

Indeed kahfs, I don't play Hof Bergmann very much but I remember that. So, it can be done....

It seems moderator deleted my post about animal.xml from $data folder.
In short, it can be done...google about it.

Yes, but I don't know how many steps there is to it. Certainly the pen must be prepared for manure, and then you need to edit the animal.xml file coming with the map. There is the default in-game version, which we cannot access. But the fact that some maps have a local copy in a characters folder suggest that a local copy can override the default version. So a good place to start is to study a map which comes with a custom version of the animals.xml file.
