Farm infrastructure (energy, water...)

Post by pate321 »

Don't know if this is really the best forum to say an idea aloud, bet here we go anyways.

I was just playing on No Mans Land and have methane production going on. How cool it would be if there was simulation of energy usage, production and distribution in the game, via dlc or mod. So you would have energy sinks, like productions, lighting, vehicle charging, animal pens, etc. and energy sources like solar and wind power (dependend on time of day and weather), generators (burning gas or diesel) and connection to the grid. Same could apply to water and sewage also. That would add a new dimension of strategy management to the game -- would you buy energy? Or sell it? How would you run your productions during winter when renewable energy sources do not produce much? Snow is falling and greenhouses eat energy at alarming rate and you'll need to prioritize what to produce, or keep running...

I'll guess that implementing that kind of thing would not be that huge thing. More work would be needed if you took that a bit further and you would have to build power distribution, would you do underground cabling or make it cheaper and have overhead cables and poles to dodge around?
