The conveyor belt stops working if I exit it

I made a connection with conveyor belts between Mineshaft and Iron Furnace:



The connection works, but only if I enter the first conveyor belt:



If I leave the conveyor belt, it stops working.
I've already changed the Automatic Engine Start setting to "off":



But this made no difference.
What needs to be done to correct this?

Downloaded and activated the mod, but it doesn't seem to work.

I enter the conveyor belt, turn it on, I exit it and when I enter again it's off, even with the mod on.
