Point of small square bales?

Post by Gugernoot215 »

I'm pondering what the point of small square bales is in farming simulator 22 when there isn't any apparent premium for making them besides lower cost to entry when chasing and stacking bales manually. But that becomes moot when you factor in the bundler to reducing handling because you've ended up spending more on an extra piece of equipment compared to round bales.
It would make some sense if we got in the base game an autoload bale trailer that costs an amount per hour in use to simulate a labourer stacking the trailer, an accumulator and flat grab, bale elevators that would be attached to the bale trailers to allow picking up from the ground, bales chasers such as the stack cruiser, bundlers that are attached to the back of the baler and an extra bit of money for bothering with smaller bales for in real life: sale to people who don't have mechanised means of moving bales.
I don't expect multi balers as they are uncommon to me and might be a bit harder to code.

There isn't any apparent premium for YOUR playstyle. I use conventional balers constantly as I am sure others do who play the way I do. Things don't have to make sense to every player to be a valuable asset to the game. Some of us have been waiting on Giants to release stuff like this (and smaller!) since the classics pack from fs15 and are dang happy to have it.

I use and would take smaller equipment any day over big equipment.. It's more fun to play with small stuff and have a small farm.. So Give me a small baler any day over a big one....

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy small equipment, it's just that the game leans into needing to be more productive to get the dopamine to have fun, that's what makes it addictive to me.
I suppose I'm just a bit miffed because when giants introduces something new it's always a bit half assed.

The first sentence of this thread is the point of small bales. "lower cost to entry when chasing and stacking bales manually"

There's a real-world point: small holders and horse people pay a premium for small bales because they can be handled without machinery.

That's what I'm getting at, giants doesn't seem to be accommodating smaller scale farms in the base game. Oh well another item for the wishlist.
Round my area small squares are handled with accumulators and flat grabs.

Wait I just resiled that there are machines for large scale small square bailing such as multi balers and tandem hitches.
Sometimes I am stupid, idk. Sometimes I ask questions for which I already know the answer.

Hi, I'm Chedly Farms. I'm a recovering small baler'aholic. IRL I've picked up, stacked on trailer, unloaded from trailer, stacked in barn, so many small bales that in my head there are no other forms of hay bales. In the game they are awesome, and with other various mods, there is actually a huge benefit. I can't get into it at the moment, but I heading out the door to small bales annonymous.

I know that Giants probably won't make a gravity wagon, but I love to read the responses.
