M1 Mac Steam FS22 Failure to Launch

FS22 on my Mac M1 fails to launch on steam. I deleted both the user data in Library and the install and redownloaded the game. No log file is generated. When I press the green play button in steam, it turns blue, checks for cloud saves (which I have turned off just in case, but made no difference), the icon opens for a split second on the deck and then the blue button in steam turns back to the standard Green Start. I have no idea what the issue could possibly be. I did test Rosetta mode but that made no change. All other Mac steam games work wonderfully. A year or two ago, FS22 ran quite well natively, now nothing. I'm at my wits' end.
