Straw doesn't seems to be required anymore for outdoor pen... I do hope that bedding still required inside...

With the small bales:

looks like the bale object does not have rotational inertia properties assigned. Only the center of gravity and mass seem to be there.

That's why it rotates that fast, once the center of the bale is off the slide/ramp. With rotational inertia properties assigned, that rotation would be much slower and realistic.
