I need a multiplayer guide -Ps4

Post by Perbjorkhem »

Howdi fellow farmers.

I played the game for quite a while now but I have only played single player.
I tried multiplayer once, but I didn’t understand what to do.

Can somebody please guide me and explain how it works?

How do I communicate with the other players?

What is the goal?

I tried to google it, but I can’t find anything about this.

The goal I'd say is to have fun?
But it really depends on how you play it.
Different farms that compete? Helping on one farm?
Multiple farms that cooperate a lot? Competing farms and contractors?

Ingame chat to communicate, of any third party voice chat software

Like many other games played in MP, the aim is to have fun :-)

You can do exactly what you do in SP but this will vary depending on who you play with (they might have set goals) or where you play (as in, which map)
For example you have the Farming League, this is primarily set on achieving goals and win by doing certain activities quicker than the others.

Then you have the casual gaming, where you play with others and just generally go about playing FS, chat about the game, chat about other stuff, help each other out, learn new things about the game which you might not have known before, see new things (mods implemented) in the game which are not standard.

How to communicate:
Various ways to do this, you have the internal chat (which is type only), however, the most fun way is to chat normally with a microphone/headset, there are various tools available and you will usually be told by your group which one they use (for e.g. Discord, TeamSpeak, Skype, etc.)

Hope that helps you a little!

Thanks. This opens up more questions from me :-)

Where is theingame chat? I couldn’t find it.

Is the game only for a couple of hours? Or can I come back later?

If you use another chatprogram how do you do it?
I play on ps4. Should I use an app on my phone at the same time to chat?

Before I join a game, can I see what the game creator’s goal is?

I remember going for Multiplayer first time, I feel your pain... I dont know why that is so big secret that they cannot make any manual for the multiplayer. Because many players dont have experience for stuff like this. Great way to add elements for FS but very annoying to learn all the details.

Understandable, the more information you get, the more questions you have :biggrin2:

All your questions have relative open answers, by that I mean, there is not only one right answer to them.

If you have a look in the Multiplayer Forum you will see people ask or advertise for a game to play.
They will usually give details about their game (which should answer the majority of your questions)
They will give details about the games aim (if there even is one).
Usually someone has paid to have a server, this technically means you could enter the game at any time and just play, the game continues even if you are not online. (All this varies on how the group play, as the "host" my pause the game, have specific rules when everyone plays, etc).

On PS4 you will probably have to add these people as friends and then you can chat with them using the PS4 party function. This lets multiple users chat/talk with one another using a microphone. It may be that the group uses other software, not on the PS4, to do this instead.

SHould have said ps4 first, wouldn't have had to rifle through so many pc only answers.

First and foremost you must have ps plus. If not, no way to multiplay at all. Game has voice chat built in but it can be a pain, highly recommend to use Party Chat on ps4 itself.

You could also use the ps4 messaging system to communicate between yourself and the host. Don't worry too much about the goal of the game, I would suggest just asking the host what they need you to do. A great way to make friends in this game is to ask the host what they need done. At least that is how I found a couple friends to play the game with for awhile.
