I fill the big peecon mixer and only put hay and silage in it 50/50 mix. Have straw on the ground and my power food bar is full. Mixed over 3 million litres that way and never had a problem. If you look at the meter on the mixer wagon straw starts at 0 litres.

The map I am playing has both mixing stations for cows and pigs. the mixing station for cows requires straw, grass(not hay) and silage. making a batch of feed I put 59000L of each in the mixing station. making 177000L of feed. with pigs its wheat, canola and sugar beets(no corn needed).barley can be used instead of wheat and soybeans and sunflowers instead of canola and potatoes instead of sugar beets. my farm produces plenty of wheat, canola and sugar beets so that's what I use. The modder that made my map set the price of soybeans and sunflowers at over 4000 dollars a ton(on normal mode) so I sell them. my soybean field is 17 hectares so I make about 500K when I sell them.
